Apprenticeship Program

Anthony Bogart : Director

Anthony began practicing hatha yoga as a part of the recovery process after shattering his 7th cervical vertebrae in a surfing accident. In the 27 years since, he has studied in several schools of yoga, including but not limited to, Sivananda, Ashtanga, Iyengar and Anusara Yoga. In 1988, Anthony spent an intensive year of study at the Rocky Mountain Institute of Yoga and Ayurveda, The Yoga Workshop and the Colorado School of Yoga in Boulder, Colorado. In 1993 Anthony became a Certified Iyengar teacher. During the 1990's, with Mind Body River Adventures, Anthony led groups into the backcountry of the southwestern United States on quests of nature and self-discovery. In 1995, Anthony appeared in the video, "Yoga of Skiing, Snowboarding and Telemarking".

In 1998, he journeyed to Pune, India for an intensive month of study at the Iyengar Institute.

Impressed by the number of individuals with a displaced sacrum, and the need for a therapeutic device to address that condition, Anthony designed and built a Pelvic Swing which not only tractions the spine and gives the benefit of the inverted poses, but also opens and relieves a compressed sacrum.

Anthony is a Senior Anusara Yoga instructor and has trained with John Friend extensively.  His teaching is challenging on all levels, yet compassionate, inviting an opening of the heart. He is the owner and director of Yoga West in Grand Junction, Colorado, where he offers public and private classes, as well as yoga therapeutics. He also leads retreats and workshops nationally and internationally.
