Class Descriptions

Bliss Meditation

Owner / Instructor:  Joseph Rolley

Mondays and Fridays   8:00am – 8:45am

Bliss Meditation explores breath, sound, the chakras and stillness.  This is an ideal class for beginners.  It is also a good class for experienced mediators who wish to deepen their practice.

Gentle Yoga

Owner/Instuctor: Zachariah Walker

Monday 9:00am – 10:15am

This yoga class is designed to be gentle, grounding, and restorative.  Focusing on breath work to ease and deepen into poses allows students to relax muscle tension and access greater mind and body awareness.  Principles of alignment and the cultivation a positive and present mindset are additional benefits from the class.  Individual attention and instructor assists in postures ensure a holistic and therapeutic personal experience.

Compassionate Communication Classes

Owner / Instructor:  Kathy Ziola

Mondays  12:00pm – 1:00pm

Classes in Compassionate Communication are based on the work of Marshall B. Rosenberg, PhD.  We learn and practice the tools for a new paradigm of relating, the purposes of which are to create a quality of connection in which people give and receive from the heart and to create a world in which everyone’s needs matter and we meet those needs peacefully.  Classes consist of information, practice and sharing. Examples of topics include:  Foundations of Compassionate Communication, Authentic Expression, The Power of Empathy, Self Empathy, Anger and Compassion. The Living Energy of Needs, Healing & Reconciliation, Dialogues and Role Plays, Speaking Peace, Self-Connection and Presence, Parenting with Compassion, Couples’ Communication, Compassionate Communication in the Workplace, Conflict to Dilemma, Exploring Power Dynamics in Relationships.  Other topics will be presented.

Breathwork Sessions

Owner / Instructor:  Kathy Ziola

TBA

This work is an opportunity for utilizing circular breathing for healing, release and energizing.  It is a tool for deep cleaning your whole being; body, mind, emotions and spirit. Working with the breath using this modality assists you in becoming aware of your blockages to total well-being and using the breath of life to facilitate powerful shifts in the flow of energy through you, giving you greater access to your inner resources and full presence. We process thoughts and beliefs and learn to become present with what is alive in us.

Morning Qigong

Owner / Instructor: Sonny Ramsey

Tuesdays  8am

Morning Qigong combines self-massage of acupoints, sitting meditation, mudras (hand forms), visualization of the elemental properties of the body, healing sounds and gentle stretching. This approach produces calmness and inhibits the heart from “galloping away,” thus leading the practitioner into a state of silence and peace a little at a time. Wake up, fight stress and maintain a grounded and focused day.

Hatha Yoga

Owner / Instructor: Suzanne Bjorge RYT

Monday 6:15pm-7:30pm  Level 2.  Includes inversions and arm balances.

Tuesday  9:00am – 10:15am  Chocolate Box yoga: You never know what you’re gonna get. We begin our practice with a cup of tea and a morsel or two of chocolate. The class might be Restorative, or Hands & Mudras, or Basics & Fundamentals, or a Feet Retreat. This is a class for all levels.

Thursday  6am-6:45am  Free 45 min All Levels class, then 45 min personal practice time.

Thursday 4:00-5:00  Beginner-Level 1.  Foundations, flexibility, and strengthening.

Mindful Eating

Owner / Instructor: Paula Anderson

Paula explores our complex and often challenging relationship with food over a light supper of soup or vegetable dish. She emphasizes that eating is a practice, not unlike yoga, where we “come to the mat” every time we encounter food. This spring she will begin featuring a different fruit or vegetable, always focusing on in-season produce first. Her goal is to offer a simple, affordable approach to eating well and becoming healthier.

Yogong

Owner / Instructor:  Joseph Rolley

Tuesdays  6:30pm – 7:30pm

Yogong combines the structure and discipline of yoga with the fluidity and playfulness of Qigong.  Yogong relieves stress by combining Hatha Yoga, Chinese Energy Movement , Posture Alignment and Breathwork.  From physiology we know that muscle tissue can only stretch by relaxing.  Attempting to stretch a muscle that is in a state of tension is like attempting to cycle up a hill with the brakes on!  Breathing and gentle movement play a major role in releasing tightness in the muscles.  In this class you will learn how to do more by doing less.

Beginner’s Yoga and Meditation

Owner / Instructor:  Joseph Rolley

Wednesdays 8:00am – 8:45am

Beginner’s Yoga and Meditation explores basic yoga postures that calm and relax the body.  The meditation practice focuses on attention to the breath to calm and relax the body.  This is an ideal class for beginners.  It is also a good class for experienced mediators who wish to deepen their practice.

Yoga Therapy and Asana

Owner / Instructor: Zachariah Walker

Wedsdays  9:00am – 10:30am

The curriculum for this class cycles each week of the month.  Week #1 Feet and Knees, #2 Hips and Thighs, #3 Spine, #4 Neck and Shoulders, #5 Hands and Wrists.  The foundation of the therapy is based on Anthony Bogart's "Health & Freedom: Transforming injury and illness into opportunity” taught from the intuitive perspective of Zachariah.  It also includes hands on adjustment, individual attention to student needs, yoga postures, breathing exercises, meditation, the use of chanting and vibrational healing, and investigations of the emotional connections to physical ailments.

Level 1 and 2 Anusara Inspired Yoga

Owner / Instructor:  Abbie Moore

Wednesdays 6:00pm – 7:15pm

Based on the highly therapeutic Anusara Universal Principles of Alignment and beginning with a heart-oriented theme this class is rooted in technical, physical and philosophical alignment.  This full spectrum class is a journey offering physical challenges, relaxation, breathwork, guided meditations and ultimately aspires to celebrate the human body and experience.

Functional Wisdom

Owner / Instructor:  Analii Cunningham

Thursdays  9:00am – 10:15am

Saturdays   9:00am – 10:15am

Functional Wisdom is an approach that brings the innate and individual wisdom of the body by identifying restrictions, habit patterns and establishes thoughtful articulation, clarity and validation of subtle changes. This approach can transform everyday movement, yoga posture and other forms of our physical practice into one that we understand to be our own unique experience.  A combination of movement techniques, breath and yoga asana will be learned each time from a new perspective allowing for the limitless potential of mind, body and spirit to emerge.

Freestyle Flow Yoga

Owner/Instructor: Zachariah Walker

Thursday 5:15 pm

This asana-focused class is an exploration of the movement into and between yoga poses.  By starting with the stable foundation of breath work and proper alignment and moving through a connective flow this becomes an energizing and empowering experience.  Opening to grace with awareness in each moment moves us beyond the mindset of determined destination and teaches us to appreciate the journey.
